Online Computerization Project


This was an in-house development project to enhance the current systems written in Clipper/FoxPro and Progress RDBMS. The old systems had different platforms and different database management. To have uniform and online computerization, Management and Computer Department decided to rewrite in 4GL and GUI application in PowerBuilder 5 and used Sybase 11.0 as RDBMS under HP-UNIX 10.0.

As a system administrator, I am responsible for maintaining the SCO-Unix Operating System as well as the Progress database, including backup and restore.

  • As a Systems Administrator


I installed the operating system (HP-UX 10.0) in HP 9000 Class D server, and updated the patch of HP-UX 10.0 to 10.2.  Partitioned the storage together with the proper assignment of space for operating system and the database proper in HP server.  Installed Windows 95 for over 80 workstations connecting HP server, three O/S 2 servers and 2 Digital SCO-Unix servers.  Helped Network administrator in the network connectivity of more than 80 workstations.  Did the Installation & maintenance of the UNIX HP 9000 D Class server three (3) Digital SCO UNIX servers and three (3) OS/2 LAN servers using TCP/IP over switched UTP CAT5 with fiber optic backbone.
